Our Horrible and Horrifying Dirty Little Secret….

If you’re reading this, I’ll let you in on our dirty little secret…

Our house is a mess, no it’s actually a disaster. It’s our dirty little secret. 😔

I know that’s not the dirty little secret that everyone was hoping for but it’s not a pleasant one to talk about, that’s for sure.

Sometimes I feel like I’m living in bad episode of hoarders.

Okay, maybe it’s not this bad but it feels like it!!!

We live in a near 100 year old house and the crap has been piling up the whole time. Well, we’ve only lived in it for 14 years but there is a lot of stuff.

Now I’m sick of it.

I’m sick of all the things that are stuffed in the nooks and crannies just to get them out of the way.

I’m sick of the “storage” rooms that are upstairs.

I’m sick of the floor to ceiling brown paneling. 🙄

So in the next few weeks, okay probably months 😉, we’ll be doing a complete farmhouse makeover.

This will be more than a spring cleaning. We’re selling pretty much everything.

I’m going to do this farmhouse decor right.

We’re planning on doing things slow so we can stay within budget but my next posts will be all about how we turn our ordinary home into an extraordinary farmhouse.

Each time we finish a room, I’ll make a new post about how we redid the space and what we used to decorate it.

Some things we already have. Some things we’ll find at local flea markets or thrift shops. And some things we’ll purchase new.

The house already has that rustic farmhouse look so we won’t be doing anything completely dramatic like tearing out walls.

But just some different decor will make all the difference in the world.

Now I won’t take a lot of before pictures of our “junk” as we go.

The reason is that I am planning on selling so much stuff that our kid will think he’s next! (That’s a quote from the financial guru, Dave Ramsey 😉) So there is no sense in taking pictures of the things that we are planning on selling anyway.

But I will take before and after shots of each of the rooms after everything has been sold.

I want and need a clean slate to work with so everything must go!!!
